Curry Banana Meat Balls

I have been craving Curry Banana Meat Balls for ages and eventually decided to make them. This is an awesome recipe was passed on, again by my mother, an awesome cook in her own right, just wish she would do it more.

The Meat Balls

Ingredients:

1 kg minced Beef

100 g Bacon

1 finely chopped Onion

4 tbls Beef stock

1 beaten Egg

1 tbsp Sugar

3 tsp Salt

1/2 tsp Pepper

1/4 tsp Nutmeg

1/2 tsp fine Coriander

2 tbsp Vinegar

1 slice grated whole wheat Bread

 Method:

Mix the mince, bacon and onion in a bowl. add the salt, pepper, nutmeg, corriander, vinegar and egg. Add the grated bread, sugar and beef stock. Mix well with your hands.

Roll 10 to 12 round meat balls. Put some flour in your hands while rolling them.

Curry Banana Sauce

Ingredients:

3 x big Onions finely chopped

2 tbsp butter

2 tbsp all purpose Flour

1/2 cup vinegar

1 1/2 tbsp Sugar

2 tbsp Lemon Juice

2 cups Water

2 tsp Curry powder

3 tbsp smooth Apricot Jam

10 Bananas

Methode:

Lightly fry the onions in the butter. Add the flour and curry powder. Slowly add the vinegar, lemon juice and water. Add the apricot jam, sugar and 6 bananas sliced. Bring to a boil and cook till the bananas are soft.

Preheat the oven at 180 deg Cel.

Seal the meat balls in a frying pan and place them in a lightly creased casserol dish. Take the remaining bananas and slice it finely and place then between the meat balls. Pour the curry banana sauce all over. Make sure all the meat balls are covered. Bake for 1 hour.
